It's just a guessing game right now. Let's wait a few years to decide. But I get the feeling Nintendo thought Doug Bowser was not doing a good enough job, so they moved him on. They will do the same with her.

Edited the thread title. WTF was the thread title?

I honestly feel Doug's whole gimmick was his last name, so he attempted to just ride with that. It was a funny "misunderstanding" with the King Bowser sketch for like 10 seconds, but that was it. He practically left the spotlight after that, so there wasn't really a face of NoA from that point on. Reggie brought of lot of expression with him for the position and was rather active in portraying himself as such, which is why so many people liked him. If Devon has even half of that, then I think she'll do okay.

Whoever it is, can't be worse than the Xbox President.

Doug's gimmick was his surname, I don't remember anything else from him. Meanwhile, Reggie was a brilliant Nintendo President.

Reggie was awesome not just because he was recognizable, but also because he actually did stuff for the western market and had the guts to go against Nintendo Japan if he felt like his idea was better.

Without him, we wouldn't have had Wii Sports included with the Wii, and I do think it played a huge part of the Wii's success. Now you can immediately see the difference, with Nintendo putting a price tag behind their garbage Tour thing

Reggie and Iwata were a great match, I've read some interviews about how they worked together, without them Nintendo just lost something and unfortunately, they never tried to replace that something properly.

I heavily doubt that Devon will be anything other than a repetition of Doug Bowser's work. I hope she proves me wrong, Reggie was also a businessman and he looked passionate about video games, but he's an exception to the rule and I still doubt businessmen overall.

Whenever she talks, she just doesn't sound like a real human being. Phil Spencer at least does that in a better way (it's still bs corpo talk, but he has a more "human" way of saying they're delivering AWESOME GAMES THE BEST OF THE INDUSTRY. I might be onto nothing and just got used to him tho).
Sarah Bond .... she seems just 100% ungenuine. Replace any of her appearances with ChatGPT and it would feel the same

1000% agree. Reggie and Iwata were not just COO/CEO, they were gamers, and as gamers, they knew exactly what gamers wanted. The current CEO is unrecognizable because we barely ever saw him. I think the only few pictures we have of him are him talking in front of shareholders and shaking hands with other people in suits.

If video games companies really want to be succesful, they need important people to be gamers, not business people, and even less activists.

You guys do not make decisions about what to buy based on the personalities of the temporary leader/spokesperson for Xbox, Nintendo or Sony. Thus it doesn't matter.

Incorrect. I never bought certain Sony products including films such as the spiderman series after they scoffed teachers. Same for my refusal to buy many Xbox products after their pathetic attempt to water down windows 11. And as for Nintendo: notice that I boycotted the switch 2 after bad decisions by their executives. So, your point is now invalidated due to proof to the contrary.

Do you enjoy being incorrect all of the time, or only as a part-time job?

no, actually, what WAS the thread title that you had to edit it manually?
had to have been quite bad or you surely would not have even cared, right?

Yes and no. It all depends on the decision they make about the product they sell. If Satoru Iwata said something like "Hitler actually had good reason" or "Slavery wasn't that bad", as long as their products are good and they care about their customers, I don't care at all about their views on other stuff. Wether I agree with them or not is secondary.
Was O. J. Simpson a good football player? Yes. Was he a good person? No
Was Michael Jackson a good singer? Yes. Was he a good person? No

We need Reggie Filsame back.
Didn't he just retire? Or maybe he "was resigned"? (That's an expression we have in Quebec, "se faire demissioner", which is a mix between the verb "demissioner" (to resign/to step down), the verb "faire" (to do) with the reflexive pronoun "se" (to talk about doing to someone (like "to myself, to yourself, to himself, etc."), in short, these word don't go together in any grammatical/syntaxical sense, but this expression means that he was forced to resigned due to pressure from other people, like shareholders or people from Nintendo of Japan)

I'm not entirely sure, but we didn't know how good we had it.

i wish iwata was still alive and kicking nintendo of japan is a shitshow and the switch 2 says it all i swear iwata''s replacement must have some Yakuza connections just by his looks alone

in all honesty, this will do nothing. nintendo is clearly disinterested in listening to its largest market, and having a leadership change will have 0 consequence on that fact

Wasn't he the COO of Nintendo of America right before Reggie? Or do you mean the current one?
