They are a lot cheaper and more reliable. Also they have the most up to date hardware you can get.
 
Unless there's a size issue with the case, I'd go with a ATI 4850. I think the 512 variety can be found for about $150 to compete with the GTS 250 and is far superior to the 4670, but like most current mid to high end cards it's pretty long. For size, you might want to consider the GTS 250, it's basically a 9800 GTX+ with a new PCB that's shorter and supposedly better on heat dissapation and matches equally with the ATI 4850.

I'd go dual core (if it ever becomes really useful you can still upgrade in the current setup but I doubt it will before you want to replace the system all together) as it's clocks are higher (and tend to OC better too, if you want to OC get a replacement heatsink though). Also replace the 4850 1G with a 512 model, 1G isn't all that useful for the 4850, you're better off keeping that money in your pocket and replace the 4850 in a year and a half or so. Memory is okay (price/quality). Personally prefer my RAM running on less voltage but that is also luck of the draw..
