For future reference, are the New 3ds buttons identical or similar enough to the originals?

I have serveral 3DS parts available, but needed to know in the event I have to replace it.

Size is similar, but I'm not sure if the depth is different.

I would also like to know in case I need to replace the buttons on my N3DS XL.


Another question, is there replacement buttons for the N3DS (not the XL)? If so, could I use them on my N3DS XL? I want to try replacing my buttons with the colorful ones that are present on the N3DS.
