Hacking Burn a Wii game with this?

I ordered a modchip THINKING I was set to start backing up games. I was wrong. I looked at my computer and I couldn't see anywhere where it said DVD writer or anything, so I need to buy one. I preferably want an external one. I looked at Amazon and here are ones that looked good to me:

Would they all be capable of burning Wii disks? If so, which one would be the best to buy?

Any DVD drive can burn wii games ... not all can copy them from the disc to the PC.

Most people find a copy online and download , or you can use waninkokos dvd ripper to get the wii to send the game to you PC over the wireless lan - takes about 3 hours.


As for the drives , i havent even looked but any dvd drive will burn them

You really don't need to spend so much. You won't really write on DL discs anyway. I use my standard one that came with my laptop and it works perfectly. They all do. As long as it can write DVD discs, then it write Wii discs.

I am not interested in copying games to my PC. I only want it to burn ISO from whateverISOwebsite.com and use it on my Wii. So that is possible with one of these?

Any dvd writer should do the job. If it says it burns discs your good..

why bother with an external if you've got space put a pioneer internal one in (update to the latet firmware) and your sorted.

As much as you've been given advice about pucking up any of them I would ONLY recommend Pioneer burners.

I really don't want to install a drive. Also, why would you only recommend them?

There is the problem of installing it if he knows nothing about that sort of thing... probably why a lot of people choose usb.

But usb2 isn't fast enough for decent burns at high speeds.

eSATA would be much better, but for the amount an external drive costs I'd just get an internal.

An internal pioneer drive will cost $25 and be higher quality than any of those listed.

Yes they should work, but depending on the chipset in them and the motherboard in your PC I wouldn't burn at faster than 8x.

i second that

I have one, minor, comment on his guide. You have to push 2 cables in it

(Flatcable and power cable) and sometimes you also need to set master / slave
