Hello everyone.

I've always downloaded the scene releases of PS4 games in ISO format and have always checked through the Redump.org database. The ISO files always had the same hash cataloged in the Redump database.

However, now the scene only releases the games in PKG format.

I would like to know if it is possible to build an ISO file in Redump format from the PKGs released by the scene.

In the case of PS3, I rebuild the ISO from the game files in JB format using an IRD file.

Thank you.

4.05 and 4.55 exploit only supports pkg format, but only fake package would with the homebrew enabler. You can't use iso

But I want to convert the PKGs from the scene to the ISO Redump format for cataloging and preserving.

I can extract the internal PKG files with the PS4PKGViewer program, but how can I build the ISO?

What would a gp4 file?

gp4 is just a project file, it is not an actual fake package, what you can use is orbis-pub-chk to check the pkg and extra the files that normally inside an iso file of a game. The PS4 scene doesn't use ISO format because you dont have access to a full CFW, currently it is just tethered where you have to reload the exploit every time it cold boot. You can use like imgburn to make a ISO image of the file inside the PS4 fake pkg but it is point less, you cant use it with the ps4 anyway.

I do not want to use the ISO or PKG to play, I want to catalog the ISO in Redump database.

That's why I want to build ISO. Creating the ISO file with imgburn or another generic program to create ISO, I will not get an ISO with the same hash of Redump.

I would need something like the PS3 IRD file, telling which files are part of ISO and which sector they need to be in.

PS4 games iso doesnt come with any IRD file.

Nope, no way. Being able to do so would mean you are in possession of Sony's master keys used to encrypt the discs, and unless they screwed big time again with home made crypto, it's not going to happen.

I know, but I think it would be an alternative a solution similar to IRD, at the time of the dump the disc game, generate a file type the IRD.

I believe that in the future some method will emerge.

I also thought that encryption would also be a problem.

There is no way, I'm downloading the PKGs until some method comes up to create the ISOs Redump.

Hello everyone.

I already know that it is not possible to build an ISO Redump from a PKG of the scene.

The No-Intro group catalogs the "true" PSN PKGs.

Is it possible to construct these true PKGs from the "fake" PKGs released by the scene?

Nope.

Same obstacle:
  • official ISO images -> fake signed PKGs: requires encryption keys to decrypt data
  • fake signed PKGs -> official ISO images (or official PKGs): requires encryption keys to encrypt data
The problem is getting the keys as brute force isn't an option and there are systems on the console to protect against keys extraction (SAMU). Word on the street is there are groups or individuals that extracted some keys (for example Volodymyr Pikhur HMAC key extraction) but the chance to see them on the wild are low (cf. George Hotz)...

Do you think it would it be possible extract the ISO and FTP the files to the internal HDD, then trick the PS4 into thinking that it was the disk similar to how apptoUSB works? By symlinking the files?

Extract iso = decrypting required (either keys or by running on a console and using dumper)

If your thinking running 5.5X game disc on <5.5X console.

When you insert a disk the ISO filesystem is mounted to /mnt/disk/

Inside there is a folder app/CUSAXXXXX/

Inside that there is app.pkg

This pkg, is like any other .pkg file,

Except that it looks for the disk to be inserted

What if you were to mount a file system to /mnt/disk with the licence files in it to fake the disk being inserted?

It will only do this if you’re on higher or equal to the FW required on the disk.

That app.pkg is encrypted.

If you inserted a 5.5X disc game into a 5.05 console it cannot decrypt the PFS sector, and cannot dump decrypted contents.

If you insert a 5.05 or lower game into a 5.05 console, obvs: you can ftp or dump it to usb.
