Hacking BS9 DSiWare question

I notice in the guide, it states:

Both of these methods require you to System Transfer from a CFW 3DS to a stock 3DS as part of the steps. System Transfers will work in the following directions only:

• New 3DS or New 2DS -> New 3DS or New 2DS
• Old 3DS or Old 2DS -> Old 3DS or Old 2DS
• Old 3DS or Old 2DS -> New 3DS or New 2DS

Does that mean the 3DS to the left of the -> sign is the source 3DS (can you system transfer from old 3DS to new 2DS XL)? I mean with the source 3ds being O3DS and the target being N2DSXL?

Thanks. I remember reading when you did it. Did it all go pretty smooth? I've modded 3 systems from stock to B9S now
