Nice work on breezehand, the overlay feels clean and promising. It’s great to see a more user-friendly approach to cheat management on Switch 👍

I have a few questions and suggestions that could help improve it further:

• Cheat notes: how are notes supposed to be added to cheat names?
From the overlay, pressing Y (which is labeled as “note”) doesn’t seem to do anything. Am I missing a step, or is this feature not implemented yet?

• Submenus support: it could be very useful to support submenus like Edizon does, for example:
[--SectionStart:Submenu--]
00000000 00000000 00000000

[--SectionEnd:Submenu--]
00000000 00000000 00000000

This would really help organize large cheat lists.

• Master Code toggle (visual detail): right now it looks like the Master Code can be disabled, but this seems to be only visual.
If you exit the menu and come back, the Master Code is active again. Not a big issue, but it can be a bit confusing UX-wise.

Overall, great concept and very promising overlay. Keep up the good work!

notes.txt in the game's breeze directory will be displayed.
[{cheat name}]
note=This is the note for the users.
Take a look at my example.

See breezehand's github readme.

Don't use label name like [--SectionStart:Submenu--], it not needed. But if you like that you can continue to do so, I just think it is visually nicer to not have repeated text that does not add value to telling use what the section is about. You can also have notes for folder.

And nested folders. Pressing Y hide the notes. You don't really want to read my comment about the cheat all the time.

Master code toggling in Breezehand should be a bug. I have not tested that. Will fix in future release.

Thanks! My bad, I should have read the README first 😅
That clears it up, appreciate it.

It’s great to be able to add comments to the cheats.
I didn’t understand why it wasn’t working for me. In the folder sdmc:/switch/breeze/cheats/{TID}, the ID must match the TID — if you use the game name, notes.txt doesn’t load.

It is where toggles.txt is at. Rename it notes.txt and add note=hello there, and it will show when you are using the simple menu. Or Breezehand.

Yeah bro, I found it. What I'm trying to say is that my original configuration is "use titleid = 0". When that's the case, notes.txt doesn't load.

If the game is identified by name and not by ID, it won't load. I just wanted to point that out in case someone doesn't understand why it's not working. That could be the reason.

For Breezehand I don’t support title name. Using title name don’t work for all games. For people who just use cheats they don’t need to ever look at the content of their sd. It’s for us creators that we want to find the file easily.

Wow, that’s really convenient and saves a lot of time.
Thanks for the quick update and for this great tool!

If you find that changes to widgets don’t stick, please press the Update button again. The old 0.4.2 build was not clean — the makefile didn’t recompile everything that needed to be rebuilt. Lesson learned.

PS: You must restart the overlay manually for the new version to take effect. Press B to return to Ultrahand.

Great tool! Exactly what I've always wished for in terms of cheats classification: their own folder! Thank you very much TomSwitch for your excellent contribution to the Switch scene.

@TomSwitch

I have become a real fan of breezehand, and thank you for this very good work.

Edizon-overlay has lived on, but rendered an immense service in its time.
Thanks to everyone who created and maintained it.

However, I have a question.

All my cheats are in the atmosphere/contents folder, except the game I'm currently playing which is in switch/breeze/cheats.
After activating the game's cheats, I went to breezehande's settings to do a Save and obtain a toggles.txt file and thus keep the favorites.
When I close the game and then restart it, the cheats are not activated.

Did I forget something?

Regards

PS: What is the best location for cheats? Atmosphere or Breeze.

@TomSwitch

I understand the problem.

I had the same files in both Atmosphere and Breeze.
Breezehand retrieved the file from Atmosphere and copied toggles.txt into Breeze.

I then put toggles.txt in Atmosphere, and it works.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Cheats in Atmosphère’s contents folder are loaded by CheatVM when the game starts. When Breezehand is activated, it loads cheats from Breeze’s cheat directory only if no cheats are already loaded in CheatVM. If Breezehand fetches cheats from a URL, they will be saved into Breeze’s cheat directory.

I experienced a few crashes that occurred randomly and were quite rare. The common factor is that they happened every time I tried to open the notes.

Error Code: 2168-0002 (Ox4a8)
Program: 420000000007E51A
Firmware: 20.0.1 (Atmosphère 1.9.4-master-d7936d3fa)

Were you running ftpd as an applet? If seems like ftpd crashed. Breeze may crash with certain game and sysmodule that use up a lot of memory. I gave the same warning about using Breezehand and Breeze at the same time. Which version of Breezehand are you using? Load up the latest and button smash Y to see if that will crash your Switch. I have done a bit of that. Smash Y, Dpad left and right, +, X etc. But it is game dependent.

I am able to crash by changing the font size up and down repeatedly. Go biggest, go smallest, after a while crash.

Yes, that makes sense. I do run quite a few sysmodules and homebrews, so memory usage is probably the issue here. I usually try to avoid running them all at once and use them individually when possible.

Thanks for the clarification, that explains the behavior I’m seeing and reassures me that it’s just a memory-related limitation rather than something more serious.

I’m currently using BreezeHand v0.5.1

The code modification is excellent. Adding a disassembler would be awesome 🔥
You mean assembler? For disassembler already included capstone. I don't know if I can include keystone due to the big memory foot print it has. May try that or create a mini assembler that only support a few commonly edit instruction.

When i launch Breezehand v.0.6.2

Error Code : 2345-0002 (0x559)
Program : 420000000007E51A

Backup to V. 0.5.3 works well.

That is capstone, increased the memory foot print if you are not already at the max. 6MB seems fine and 4MB is not good even for 0.5.3 or earlier version but only download don't work reliably but does not crash. It's under system. The setting is the same as ultrahand. In case you are not familiar look at this screen, click on this and move the slider.

Other sysmodule automatically squeeze the ram available. On HOS 21.2.0 I can not really count on getting 8MB.
