I'm trying to directly boot into Hekate using the SX Dongle, but none of the methods I tried work. Here's what I tried:
  • Using the SX Gear boot.dat to chainload the Hekate payload renamed to payload.bin
  • Using https://sx-boot-dat-creator.herokuapp.com to convert the Hekate payload into a boot.dat
  • Using the Python script to convert the Hekate payload into a boot.dat
In all cases the dongle's light flash green/blue, but the screen stays black.

Shouldn't this work? Am I missing something?

Just the hekate bin is needed, put on sd card, boot other payload... You don’t need the script! Use the bin you get with hekate

Can you try to put hekate 5.0.2 into SD root directory and boot normal SXOS with volume + pressed? Then you can load the hekate.bin from the SXOS menu. This at least works for me. Will try chainloading with the SXGear boot.dat later on.

Just did the test with an SD card formatted to FAT32, the only files in root directory being boot.dat from SX Gear and hekate 5.0.2 bin renamed to payload.bin. Works perfectly fine!

Remark: I actually have the SX Gear dongle (the red one), but I don’t think that the normal (black) dongle should behave differently.

I think you have something wrong with your Hekate setup then. I am using the boot.dat creator for a long time now and I have 0 problems.

@Kirbydogs, Make sure to check the scripts before even applying them, as there are some Tampermonkey scripts that could be malicious.

I'm currently setting up a Windows 11 virtual machine to use some Windows software that I often use.

Everything is debloated, all updated, and did some tweaks to help performance because it needs really heavy requirements.

@Kirbydogs, Good thing I've got Open Shell, it's an open source version of Classic Shell that a lot of people used because Windows 8's start menu sucked.

I remember seeing a comment on a recent Enderman video, "Windows users: "Linux is for nerds!" Also Windows Users:" (it was referencing literally hacking an OS build)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Kirbydogs, What OS build was it?
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
Dev build that was leaked, meant for Microsoft 365
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Kirbydogs, Ah yes, it was meant for 365 Link devices. Not meant to be used as a consumer build because it's very stripped down to the core.

It is kinda creepy though, it shows *some* insight on what Windows may look like in the future. For example, the CTRL+ALT+DEL menu is a.. webview?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Kirbydogs, The Windows 11 OOBE is a webview, even the 365 enterprise logon screen.

Wow, though, using an old YouTube layout really makes YT feel more like a community and less like a corporation

Despite Google Plus forcing users to sign up to even make a comment on a video. I remember it when I signed up to a YouTube account, couldn't even make a nickname lol.
