it depends what software you have that identify that .dat file to them. It's all fine.

It sounds like you have a application on your computer that has registered .dat files in its associations, and that file has something to do with video editing perhaps. Or maybe a video player.

what you see on your computer is irrelevant to what your switch sees.

just asking cuz i can get the xs os software to load up but when i press custom firmware to load original firmware the screen just goes black

Write click boot.dat and set it to open with nothing, also check it’s not got an extra ext after I:E; .dat.something! Make shore all your files are correct on SD card

payload (1).bin is named incorrectly.. it should be payload.bin - but is it the definitely the payload.bin downloaded from the sx site?

ok we need more details please:

Was this SX OS install a fresh install or an update from an earlier version?

if an update then try a hard reset by holding the power button for 40 seconds on bootup.

If a fresh update, format the SD card as fat32, download a fresh copy of the boot.dat and copy it to the Sd card.

Also did you update your sysNAND to 7.0.1 or are you using an earlier firmware? If 7.0.1 see list of steps below.

note: if you have license.dat in sd before creating emunand, you gonna get the black screen, so this is how i fix it:

1. Update sysnand to 7.01
2. Format sd card and put only boot.dat on it
3. Created emunand
4. Reset switch
5. Put put license.dat on sd
6. Boot succesfully on emunand
