If you do it you can't play online, or when a new update comes you could use maintenance mode and prevent updates

Why not just delete Wi-Fi settings and stay offline anyways? You don't gain anything magical by keeping them; in fact, its arguably worse with a hacked console.

why are you recommending DNS to block update? Incognito and atmosphere's exosphere is the best option to block updates. 90DNS isn't reliable and will get switches banned if swapping to another internet connection

Use incognito and it will solve all your problems... Just make sure that you save the incognito backup it creates.

No it will not and no console has been banned for using 90DNS. In fact, I would argue Incognito are the worst options to block updates as several users who have lost their backups are now banned thanks to Incognito. Yes, it is partially the user's fault for losing the backup but if they had used 90DNS instead, they would have never feared that option. Statistically speaking, it is more likely to lose your backup with Incognito than connect to a new access point without 90DNS.

If a user was to restore their prodinfo and go online while having a dirty switch, they will be banned. If a user was to use 90DNS and only use it on 1 internet connection, they will most likely forget to put 90DNS on another internet connection which will result in a ban if the switch is dirty. If you're not pirating games, there's no need for incognito or 90DNS but for the majority of the people who run "backups" will require a way to permanently block Nintendo connection from banning your switch's cert. I don't recommend anyone using 90DNS since you have to go out of your way to put in numbers and dots in the internet setting while incognito is just a simple touch on the button and reboot. Atmosphere can already blank prodinfo with exosphere.ini which eliminate the need of incognito and 90DNS and with recent atmosphere update, you can just block Nintendo with host files. If the user failed to upload a clean nand backup to a cloud or store the backup on a separate storage device, the fault is on them

But you're comparing that can happen to something that has happened. Your Switch can get run over by a truck. Does that mean you shouldn't buy one even if it has never happened? Of course not. The same logic applies here. A million things can go wrong when using 90DNS, Incognito, or anything else but between the two of them, Incognito has caused more issues. Furthermore, losing your backup with Incognito is a guaranteed ban unlike accidentally connecting online with 90DNS which is a high chance at best. Its also asinine to believe that a user cannot input a simple string of numbers compared to downloading Incognito, launching the payload, making sure you use it on the right partition, and keep a backup. Lastly, you even admit that Atmosphere's exosphere implementation makes Incognito a moot point so it should not be recommended period.
