Gaming Bloated DSi battery

I recently dug out my old DSi only to notice that the battery lid was being pushed out by the battery. When I unscrewed the lid the battery was extremely bloated. The battery still works and there was no effect on battery life. I left my DSi in my basement and when I came back this morning the battery was back to its original size. What's going on with the my battery?

nooooooooo replace that, thats not a good sign, if you can, replace it.

That battery is a fire risk - do not leave it charging unattended. I would recommend disposing of it as soon as possible at your nearest battery recycling facility and buy a replacement.
