Hello. I bought a used Wii console, and it uses USB Loader GX. I've downloaded some games, put on my Cruzer Blade Pendrive and played them, but some of them have a black screen title and as soon I launch them, the console returns to home screen. I've already downloaded the game from 3 different places, but the result is the same. The games are Yu-Gi-Oh! Wheelie Breakers and Bakugan Defenders of the Core. Any ideias how to fix this?
My console is American and my games are NTSC.

Posting 2 times won't make the answer come quicker, just so you know.

1)Flash drives are garbage on the Wii, that's major issue #1

2)Post a syscheck here so we can see what cIOS you've installed

Hello. Sorry for double posting.

Just in case, I've already bought this wii with everything installed, I've just downloaded some games and transfered them with WBFS Manager. Some games were on .wbfs format and I've converted them to ISO using Wii Backup Manager.

Here is my syscheck:

Its running hermes cios, you will have to update your wii with d2x cios, and also, don't use a thumb drive, use a hard drive, thumb drives don't work, the appear to work for a while and fail.

Here is a guide I found quick, I'm not sure if it is the best guide or not, but its been a while since I modded a wii

https://wii.guide/cios.html

Thank you. Folowwing this tutorial will overwrite my old cios normally or I have to do something else before updating to this new one?

It will write in 249, 250, and 251 new revisions of the cios that are more compatible with games, vc, and wiiware. Hermes cios's will still be avalible for use when you are done with the guide, but I'm not sure if anything requires hermes cios's though.

I've updated the cios with your method, still no success on running the mentioned games. Maybe the problem is on the launcher?

Hello,

@Zenthons

You need to install the cios d2x (version 10 beta 52) like this ==>

249 base 57 revision 21010
250 basis 56 revision 65535
251 base 58 revision 21010

And everything will work properly.

You can post a syscheck report, for control?

update USB LOADER GX ==>https://sourceforge.net/projects/usbloadergx/

no USB stick, works badly or not with the Wii, prefer an external hard drive for better connectivity.

don't use WBFS manager ever !
this is old, outdated, and corrupts games!

don't convert wbfs to ISO !
what you need is "wbfs" format, NOT the iso.

format your drive to FAT32
use WiiBackupManager to put games on the HDD.
using THIS METHOD (don't think you know how to use the tool because you already used it once, please use THIS METHOD)
WiiBackupManager should NOT be used to convert file format, it must be used to install games automatically for you.

you can backup your games to PC first with WiiBackupManager if you want before formating to FAT32
or you can use wbfs2fat to convert WBFS partition to FAT32 without losing games, but if you already used WBFS Manager, you probably have corrupted games. converting to FAT32 will not fix your games.

Updated again with jeannotte help and will try reinstalling all my games with Cyan's method.
While I do this, here is my syscheck:

your IOS slots are good now :)
just be sure your USBLoader has the proper setting to use the new installed IOS.

if you use USBLoaderGX, go to Settings > loader settings >
be sure both Loader's IOS and game's IOS are set to slot 249.

If your HDD is currently in WBFS partition format (that's what WBFS partition uses), we can provide assistance to convert the partition format if you don't want to lose your current games.
but, you can/should use WiiBackupManager anyway to manage your games on that drive even if you don't convert to FAT32, it works fine with WBFS partition format too, and it doesn't corrupt games.

One thing you should do right now if your partition is in WBFS format, because I'm not sure if it's automatic or not:
Launch WiiBackupManager
plug your HDD
select the "drive 1" tab
select your partition letter in the menu.
now you should see your games in the list.

Go to option and search for something called "check/verify empty blocks" and it will tell you if it found any block mistakenly marked as empty, and will mark them as used instead.
it will fix the problem caused by WBFS manager and will prevent further corruptions of existing games. (sadly, it will not fix your already corrupted games)

Hello. I have backups from .wbfs files, so I've opted to format it to FAT32 and reinstall one of the buggy games using Cyan's WBM method.
Set both slots to 249 on the loader and the game still shows a black screen title...
=/

If you are still using a thumbdrive that is your problem, it isn't going to work with a thumbdrive.

I think you're right...
Gonna borrow my friend's external drive to test it.
As soon as I test some of the buggy games, I'll return here.
Thanks for the help everyone <3

Hello again. I've tried those games with my friend's external drive and they've worked perfectly. Thanks everyone for the help, I'll save some money and buy one myself, until there, I'll have to hang on with my thumb drive. :x
Again, thanks a lot!!
