CoD has been going in that direction for years. I mean in MW2 there was a level where you had to kill a bunch of civilians in an airport. Honestly I didn't play the campaign in MW2 because of this sure you could skip the level I believe but the idea is just wrong. there is a line that shouldn't be crossed I think and as much as I hate to say it but video games like this do actually De-sensitize the importance of a human life.
It was a moral choice. You didn't have to shoot at the civilians. You could complete the level without doing that if I remember correctly. It was to show some of the terrible decisions undercover operatives have to deal with.
There's a bit in CoD4 where your Marine character is killed in a nuclear blast that's quite gripping and does something similar in showing the risks all Military operatives undertake.

Its the developers that have done this, not any particular censorship body.
There is a point where things can get so bad even the developers decide its too much and tone it down a bit, especially considering the amoutn of 13 year olds who play CoD 24/7.
Hehe Damn Straight. I played battlefield and cod when I was twelve (fourteen now) but if you dont want to see the gore, violence and killing read the classification im getting this game gore or no gore.

I liked that everyone of the main characters died except the last one.

honestly, I think it's better off that way, Call of Duty isn't known for it's gore and brutal kills
True, although Treyarch always tries to amp up the gore-factor in it's CoD releases (World at War gibbed a players legs if they ran over a bouncing betty in multiplayer). Honestly, I'd say this is a publicity stunt. Treyarch is essentially using an engine that is 3 years old to make this game, for a home console. I HIGHLY doubt they have pushed the bar with the graphics technology to say CryEngine 2, which was extremely realistic but not so much that killing an AI controlled player looked completely realistic. I mean, have you seen the faces and overall graphics in the game? They are good, but not much better than MW2.

I don't get the point of this; this game, and the whole genre, are games where all you do is senselessly murder people, over and over again. If a whole genre exists, where the whole purpose is to shoot people in the head, who gives a damn if it's too realistic. We're already to the point of desensitization, that most people wouldn't care. You can already see worse by simple web browsing, or an hour on /b/.

So, in the end, I say keep the gruesome deaths, or get rid of the genre completely. You don't get to tone down senseless murder.

fix'd
but srs.
Come on it's an 18 just let it go critics.
pussys just ruin it for everyone, like PETA and FCC

Sure it could go for ever FPS but look at halo your 98% of the time shooting aliens in campaign sure in multiplayer your shooting Spartans but Spartans never die they are only missing in action

Eh, I'm kinda glad they toned it down. I'd probably be mentally distrubed if the game went that far. =/

If they think some parts of the game are too realistic, then why do they focus on making these kind of games so realistic ?
Because then people would complain about the game being un-realistic (the same way they complain about it being too realistic).

I don't want a realistic game, I want a GOOD game.

Of course it's fun to see blood splatting out of one's head when you deliver a perfect sniper bullet to the brain, but splatter gore doesn't neccesarily have to be a factor that makes the game better in any way.

In a zombie-mod however, which is already just service for the zombie fans, does require some gore to sustain that good ol' zombie killing feeling. :3

too much violence in black ops? wait till mgs rising comes out and it'll put that violence in that game to shame. slicing bodies from any angle thats looks real! black ops animation team are just some babies.

chances are kotick shat herself when she saw them (dam wimp) and made them change it so he can get money from moronic mothers who just get whatever there kids want
