Bionic Commando: Rearmed is a modern day remake of the classic NES game Bionic Commando. The game features updated visuals, classic game play, leader-boards, challenge modes, puzzles, and platforming fun. Now might be the time to grab the Playstation Network DEMO and consider making that purchase. The first game is now 50% off at $4.99 and the second game has also been given a price reduction to $9.99.

I bought it for the XBLA at full price and I really regret it. The graphics and music are well done but they did absolutely nothing to update it. Instead it's just terribly dated gameplay mechanics (and the controls for the Xbox version blew as well).

If you were REALLY that big a fan of the original game then this may be alright for you, but it's little more than a new coat of paint.

they remixed the music. they remade all the boss fights (and added new bosses). the dialogue is witty and fun. the game has co-op. they added a fun multiplayer mini game. there are the training missions in the neutral zone now. the character designs were all redone. they have fun with the original by expanding on the sort of futuristic/sci-fi designs the original had. they added a puzzle game when hacking the enemy communications. you can now use all weapons in each zone and some weapons are required to beat certain areas, unlike the original where you mostly stuck with the rocket launcher. they added the ability to grab and throw barrels and enemies, something that adds a very fun element to your attacks. they even added new weapons.

if you watch the making of vids they explain that they left the game mechanics on purpose because they felt they were updating an old NES game for a new generation. they say that the mechanics were not realistic (always get the same swing, always swing out the same distance, the unreal arc of the swing, etc) but that they were the mechanics. they really wanted the game to have the same feel and the focus was more on the things i mentioned above.

i think they did a lot more than just give it a fresh coat of paint. now the new ocarina 3ds... thats a fresh coat of paint!

i really enjoyed rearmed and found it worth the 9.99 price. 4.99 is a steal for the game in my opinion.

While the first game is nice, especially if you want to revisit the classic, don't support the 2nd game.
It has some very stupid DRM, that will not allow you to launch the game if you're not online. Tell Capcom
this BS is not allowed, by not supporting it with your money.

It's too bad they fucked with the swing mechanics and forced a bunch of new gimmicks into BCR2.

At least they got Viklund for the soundtrack again.

i considered buying 2 until i grabbed the demo. the good points is that its a new bionic commando game. the graphics, game play, and fun are still there. however, the added jump button gets really confusing. its only good for when you miss a swing and it gets confusing that you can now jump. i agree with everything that having to be online to play is bullshit.

i would grab the 2nd game if it was 4.99, so maybe one day.

  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
He couldn't eat until after his MRI, when he had a bomb pop.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
What matters now is that he's doing alright.

But you still don't know what it was?
