THE WOOD R4 RULEZ!
IT RESURRECTED THE R4 ONCE AGAIN!
(better than YSMenu

Rawrs! It's Moonshell2, its always moonshell2. Moonshell2 is the best piece of homebrew eva! Its impossible to hate moonshell2 and it looks smexy, and it does things. Moonshell2 4 EVAR!!! xD

In any case, moonshell2 rocks on all levels, as long as Xenon++ cares enough about us to keep modding the latest woodr4 to have the autoboot latest rom function.

3 of those options piggy back on YSMenu, they're not really firmwares, but rather firmware replacements

Wasn't there already a similar thread like this? Sans the last five options anyway.

Well, I've used v1.18, YSMenu, and Wood so far, and I've found that I like Wood the best. It's aesthetically pleasing, can launch homebrews and is easy to put in the R4. (I don't know if YSMenu is able to launch homebrews now, but before, it wasn't able to. Also, YSMenu is a headache to install for a noob like me. ;P) Moonshell is very nice as a homebrew, but, not having launched games directly from it, I wouldn't know if it supports cheats. Probably not. (And some of the games I use require cheats in order to by-pass piracy protection.)

YSMenu has always been able to launch homebrew...xD you might have been doing something wrong. Moonshell2 sort of supports cheats via the two firmware that it can use to load games/homebrew. In ysmenu, its slightly dumb in the fact that you have to use ysmenu to put on the cheats and load the game (no way to avoid it either). If you use WoodR4 though, it is possible to have the cheats already working because Moonshell2 would just boot the WoodR4 firmware (which would in turn autoboot the rom you want with the cheats on provided your settings have it on). In either case, you would have to use either of the firmware to set the cheats, but woodr4 gets the plus that if you only use cheats for anti-piracy, you only have to set it once and you can use Moonshell2 the rest of the time. Of course, to use woodr4 with moonshell2 you need Xenon++'s modded one, but at the moment it seems that the current status of it is unknown (in Xenon++'s words "WoodRPG/R4 with autorunWithLastRom/.sav I don't know...")
