I know there's already the essentials thread but that doesn't do anything for me. So like since I've got my ps2, it's all nice and modded, I wanna know some good games I can buy for it. Now, I don't just want "oh buy this game it good" I wanna know what the game is, what it's about and why it's worth my time. I want to find some truly great ps2 games and i don't just want the generic top 50. Underrated gems are appreciated.

Final Fantasy X, X-2 and XII are good stuff. XII is more of an old school RPG set in a medieval era were X is more of a general fantasy setting. Both provide many hours of game play. The God of War titles are also good if you like action beat-em-up games. They have amazing graphics. Dragon Quest is good, never played the .hack games. Need for Speed Most Wanted is an excellent racing game (it's only single player though). Those are all I can think of off the top of my head.

Grand theft auto, metal gear, god of war are classics, but you probably already know that. My personal favorites are War of the monsters, Tony hawk 4, and dark cloud are fantastic.

If you're looking for hidden gems, check out:

- Darkwatch, a unique vampire/western shooter

- Cold Winter, a shooter powered by the Karma physics engine which is an overlooked gem

- The Getaway, often forgotten by people who weren't around much in the PS2 days, is basically GTA in London and it's a good time

- GUN, a game similar to Red Dead Redemption

- Burnout Revenge, in my opinion the best Burnout game.
- SoulCalibur II, probably one of the best fighting games ever released.
- Donald Duck: Quack Attack, not too highly rated, fairly simple game but it still has great gameplay.

Alright, so I get paid in a little under an hour. Which of these games can I get for cheap? I'm already gonna get budokai tenkaichi 3 and that's gonna be pricey, so I'm looking for a value. Also if I can get it in good condition, that's a plus. I'm likely gonna try to put this games on my hard drive through hdl

I remember buying a PS2 for GTA: San Andreas. I got GTA Vice City and GTA III soon after.

I enjoyed London Racer: Police Madness a lot!
Lemmings was very nice too.

Ofcourse the most time I spent on is GTA: San Andreas :D

I liked the Syphon Filter games a lot on the Ps2 although it were just ports of the psp versions. (don't know if there were more than one :s).
And if you like music games I would say Gitarooman and maybe Fantavision.

    I just recently picked up a n64 from a garage sell, and looking to mod it and add a HDMI port to it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3548173115...044&customid=4f3038da73b61afddf7e5e90f4153856
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
    I'd like to find a power strip and HDMI selector built in 1 unit, so I can select which game system I want, and will switch to that hdmi, and power on that plug/power supply only, so don't have all game systems powered all the time, but can't find anything like. May just have to make something myself.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
    Maybe start a kick starter page and sell them, yea right. Big N would prob C&D me, not anything Big N related, but just because that's what they do nowdays. Then come out with they own in a year or so.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, Nice. Which operating system are you installing?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @SylverReZ, windows 10 and some linux distro like linux mint
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    dualbooth
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, Yeah, I'd recommend having another OS just in-case you want to play games.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    At least Linux doesn't contain spyware than what Windows has.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @SylverReZ, cuz of lag?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, No. Whenever you use the internet on Windows, Microsoft collects personal data and installs bloatware that isn't necessarily needed, such as Edge.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Speaking of which
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @SylverReZ,
    I recall @impeeza mentioned some trick about not having bloatware when installing windows where you set up your country to "world" or smh like that

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Yes, you can debloat the operating system, but in some cases for me it just reinstalls them.

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @SylverReZ,
    I also recall my brother downloded a "non bloated" version of windows 11 on his pc

  • impeeza @ impeeza:
    @Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.
