There's various:

• Official Smash GCN controller (requires the GCN adapter)
• Hori's GCN wired USB controller
• Duelist GCN wireless controller
• Battler GCN wireless controller

While there's also PowerA GCN controllers, you may want to avoid those as PowerA brand can't be trusted as their controllers break after some time.

I like the Doyoky/Binbok retro joycon. They can be used separately as well as connected with the charging grip.
My one criticism is that the control stick cap is a bit small and flat rather than convex, so I have added some rubber covers.

As a person who has spent many hours playing with Gamecube Controllers and modifying them, the absolute best for playing gamecube games would always be the Official OEM Controllers. If you're looking for the absolute best for playing Smash Bros, then you'd be wanting to look into something called a Phob Controller.
