I remember seeing a sticky on this but it's gone or atleast I can't find it so can someone list some of the good free anti virus programs/redirect me to the other topics, atm I am using Microsoft Security Essentials(which has constant updates which is good) plus I have avg free running at the same time (it sucks but sometimes picks up little things that manage to slip past MSE) So yeah, suggestions would be great, thanks guys.

You shouldnt use 2 AV at once. it conflicts with the other and coputer gets slower. (has to scan files 2 times)

anyway, i use MSE, but sometimes, things do get past it, so i just do a monthly or so scan in safe mode.

I don't mind the computer getting slower but when it conflicts with the other AV what can happen?

Haha, well it seems like I'm useless, AVG is all I've ever used.
lol, you probably just don't do as much browsing and downloading as me, I once had the worst virus that whenever I opened a program I would get the BSOD then it would say "Dumping physical memory" I usually turned the comp off then, but 1 time I let it go to 100% and the whole hard drive had to be reformatted and I had to reinstall windows, lost everything, and it got me in alot of trouble lol, I was young when I did this, got banned from PC for like 6months or something and after that I wasn't allowed to use the net lol, but now I'm like 13 turning 14 next month and I basically run the computer lol, I'm pretty techy, gonna take a career in IT.

What or where are you usually downloading files from?

Can't exactly list the sites here without breaking the rules but I usually download from torrent sites in general and some torrents end up having A LOT of viruses. But I don't know where the virus that gave me the BSOD and made me reformat was from I never used torrents back then.

I did some extensive comparisons to different free anti virus clients, and IMHO avast! comes out on top.
It's easy to use, it does not run craploads of services in the background and has a pretty definition database. I personally use it on all my PC's.

Why free? Investing on a paid AV is best. And it offers much than free antiviruses.
yeah I know, if I could afford it I'd buy Kaspersky but I don't have much money atm so I'm looking for free ones

i browse ALOT, same with downloading, torrents, megaupload etc. And so far AVG have never failed to notice a virus. If i pirate a game with a bad noCD.exe avg always remove the infected file.

I'm using AVG Internet Security Network Edition. With a key i got from a keygen

EDIT: I'm taking IT classes at my 4th year at "Gymnasiet" (Highschool?). And everyone in my school use AVG even the IT support we have use it.

I'm talking about AVG Free, of course a paid(or cracked) version of avg is going to be way better than a free version.

My only firewall is AVG. That's running all the time.
I occasionally boot up other programs to update and scan, like SUPER, Ad-Aware and Spybot.
Never had any virus problems, works like a dream, just scan regularly.
