Hello everyone, today i've found my old hacked PS3 and i was wondering, what's the best hardware flashing tool for it ? In 2015 i used a very (not) easy one, it was the E3-Flasher and by the time, i've lost it x)

I'm asking it because i'd like to have an emergency backup solution in case of bricking it (yes, i like to modify internal flash files) x)
Thanks for your attention and have a good day :)

You can't brick by "modifying internal flash files" for the common definition of files - CoreOS (which includes recovery mode) is stored directly in flash outside of the flash0/2/3 partitions, and most importantly, since you have a NOR console, flash0/2/3 are actually on the HDD!

That said, pretty much the only commercial flasher you can still find is the E3, unfortunately its solderless clip (sold separately) is not of great quality; the do it yourself options (like Teensy are also valid but you will have to solder them yourself (or ask the local TV service shop)!

I had the E3-Flasher, and its quality was really disgusting for the "solderless" part, and also for its "one console only" side.
So, if i want to mess around with CFWs and homebrews that write to dev_flash, it's "safe" without nor backup / flasher ?

Yep, as long as we're talking files inside dev_flash, worst case scenario (on NOR models, again) is that you'll have to erase the first few megabytes of the disk with a PC, put it back into the console, and reinstall the operating system from USB :)

I’m just curious why you want to flash it. Nobody does it anymore. So much easier to just hack the console online then downgrade with Rebug if you’re feeling froggy.
