I need a cart for homebrew. Yes, I really mean that. I would like to know which cart is the best for homebrew games and apps. Price isn't that big of a deal, but I don't want anything overpriced. I would also like to be able to back up and copy saves to my real games, that I bought in stores. Please help!

Also, what's the best MicroSD card to buy?

Oh yeah, I have a DS Lite.

I'd also prefer a slot 1 cart only and that doesn't have to flash my DS.

Well, the DS-X can run all homebrew (and roms) per today, plus it's able to backup/restore saves from your original games.

For homebrew I found that my Supercard Lite and Superkey have no compatibility issues at all. You can use REIN to backup saves and copy them.

Also with supercard lite your microSD doesn't matter at all. I have a taiwan manilla sandisk and PoR never crashed or lagged.

edit2: i mean normal SClite, not rumble

I just remembered something else. I'd prefer a slot 1 cart only and that doesn't have to flash my DS.

The DS-X doesn't fit the requirement of not being overpriced. It does have better compatibility with old (dead) homebrew projects than other slot 1 carts, but you could get an R4, a Supercard miniSD (which probably has the best homebrew compatibility of any cart) and 2 memory cards for about the same price as the 512MB DS-X.

If need an SC CF or M3 CF if you want to play the early stuff, like the TI-85 and Hexen/Heretic ports (do they work with slims and lites?)

For homebrew only, a slot 2 cart is probably the best choice. It will allow you to play much older homebrew including gba homebrew.

however if you're set on a slot one, perhaps... R4 for it's cheapness.

dont get rumble carts, as it dont support alot of homebrew. Go with SC Lite if u want to run Homebrew

Supercard DS One.Its run all the homebrew I have on my 1GB Micro SD(40+).My sigs got a deal from dealextreme
