Hey all!
Got this working, but only for a minute or so before it code dumps! Seems to dump after a time limit, rather than after I do something specific in game, perhaps that might provide a clue?
Tried running from sd and usb - same result, any tips?
Loving wiipathy's work, merci! :P

Gambia, The
the game works perfect,
but I can't save and restore games.
when I die, it starts from the beginning.
I go in the menu, to "save game" and press A, then the menu closes.
but I can't restore.

edit: problem solved, I had the game data on the usb stick.
now I have the game data and the port on the sd card and it works perfectly.

I just found out that Gregory Montoir (cyx), the guy that made the original Bermuda Syndrome engine rewrite (and also from the ScummVM team :P) was also working on a rewrite of the Heart of Darkness game engine, called HODe.

The official page for this port is down, but I was able to find a copy of the source code here! B-)
It would be really great if we could play this great game again on our Wii! :yaywii:

I'll tell you secret, I started to port this engine too... but realized there will be to much work caused essentially by endian issues. To be clear, you can start the game(the intro) but there are a lot of issues with the graphics and animation of the character for example. So I gave up.
Fortunately, you can play it on Mega-cd with Genplus-gx now.

yeah, Heart of the Alien:P. Not the same author, and the engine is called Redux. Not enough sleep...
Then, I don't know for Heart of Darkness, maybe...

I'm both happy and sad to ear that! :P
But Heart of Darkness was only released for PC and PS1...
Heart of the Alien (a.k.a. Another World 2) was the one released for the SEGA Mega-CD!

If devkitPPC provides something similar to the byteswap.h header like GCC, you can use this for machine optimized instructions to convert endianness:;)
Code:
#include <bits/byteswap.h>
int16_t __builtin_bswap16 (int16_t x)
int32_t __builtin_bswap32 (int32_t x)
int64_t __builtin_bswap64 (int64_t x)
Any chance you will be looking at your HODe port again soon? ^_^

No problem compiling HODe for Linux. However, impossible to launch the game with the demo or the french version. Did someone ever manage to get it working?
Perhaps it needs a specific version...
There's surely a good reason the author removed the source code from his website. The engine is maybe incomplete and unplayable at this state.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but is it possible to compile this using the latest sdk and how? It does not support the new Wii+ remotes. I get the game started, but the wiimote shuts off (built-in motion plus).

Man I just fell in love with you. ;)

OK great, I'll do that. There's a ton of brew that's awesome but not compatible with the new Wiimote, I want to bring them back to life. :)
Ha ha, you're welcome. It's a cool game, I've never played till the end though.
