I have a bunch of handhelds in storage. Several GBAs, DSs, 3DSs, PSPs, Vitas etc. I'm living in another country from them and probably won't be playing them for a while. I'm worrying about spicy pillows or worse, explosions or fires. I've heard the PSP in particular is a volatile battery. This article got me extra worried.

I have a visit back coming up and thought it would be a good time to deal with the battery situation. Does anyone have any good advice on this situation? I don't really want to remove and dispose of all those OG batteries, especially with a NIB DS or something. But if it's the safest option then I guess I'll just have to take the hit and replace them in the future as and when it's needed.

Charge the batteries to 50% and store them in a dry place. Put them in an airtight container with a moisture absorber if you're worried. I can't comment on the PSP, if you have reason to be worried then you could dispose of the battery and buy a new one when you move back home.
