Hi everyone,

so the short version of the story is this: My girlfriend was playing Wii Fit Plus using the USB Loader GX 3.0 to load the game from the hard drive like she did for months now and when she was done, she turned the Wii off. When I started the Wii back up an hour later I suddenly got an error message after the health warning.

The longer version is: Between this Wii Fit session and the last, my gf wanted to play Yoshi's Island really badly so I went and looked for a guide on how to do that. First I downloaded ModMii 6.5.1 and used the SU (sysCheck Updater) which tells you exactly what you should download and install. The tool then downloaded the following WADs which I installed using Multi-Mod Manager

  1. Your unique list of WADs to install are as follows:
    • IOS11v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP])
    • IOS20v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP])

    • IOS60v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP])
    • IOS70v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP])
    • IOS80v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP])

    • IOS61-64-v5662
    • IOS62-64-v6430
After that I downloaded Snes9x GX 4.4.7 and Snes9x GX Channel Installer 1.2 and installed them via Homebrew Channel. Everything seemed fine, my gf played Yoshi's Island for 3 days without any kind of problem and today she played Wii Fit Plus using the USB Loader GX for the first time since installing Snes9x GX. The game worked fine and exactly how it was supposed to and aftwerwards she turned it off by pressing the power button on the remote. When I turned the Wii on a few hours later I saw the bannerbrick.

Does anyone know what happened here and how I can fix this? Everywhere only it just tells me to uninstall the WAD, which caused the brick, but how do I do that. Everything worked fine for a few days. I have no idea what exactly caused this.

I will attach the sysCheck that I pulled from the Wii after I noticed the brick.

erm... you are right. I can't be sure. It's just that everything related to the error message pointed to it being a bannerbrick, so I assumed it was.

Yes, of course I have installed both. It is written fat and red in every single guide, I have come across ^_^

I can boot into BootMii and I can access the HBC. From the HBC I can start other applications like USB Loader GX, but I cannot not start a game from the USB Loader (it just gives me a black screen). When I select a the SD-Card in BootMii I can see the root menu for less than a second before it closes again.
I cannot enter the Wii System Menu, neither from normal boot, BootMii nor HBC. Then it will show me the health warning, I press A and then I get the error message that the system files are corrupted/faulty/damaged (not sure what it says in english, it's "fehlerhaft" in german)

Unfortunately I can't, for the life of me, find the nand-backup from nearly 10 years ago...

Please,on the Health & Safety Screen, press and hold the "+" and "-" Buttons on your Wii Motion Controller and press "A" to get into the Maintance Mode (Wartungsmodus).

If this works, then maybe only a Channel/Save Game or something like that is "faulty" and can be deleted/restored/repaired.

If it is still the "Corrupted System File" then you have more other Options. No worries.:)

Good Luck and
Thank you.:)

Okay, so I just tested your suggestion and the Wii booted into maintenance mode. I didn't really know what to do now that I entered this mode, so I just had a look at the settings, turned the internet connection off (don't really know why I did that though) and opened the Snes9x GX channel and loaded it. I then realized that I forgot to turn on the USB Drive, that I installed Snes9x to, so I turned it on now, why the channel still tried to load up. I guess because it couldn't locate the needed files, it instead loaded the normal Wii System menu and yeah...everything seams to be back to normal now.

I was able to load Snes9x and start Yoshi's Island normally, I was able toload USB Loader GX and start Wii Fit Plus normally, I was able to open the SD-card menu from BootMii again normally and the Wii is properly loading the Wii System menu.

The only negative is, that I still don't have a clue, what went wrong here and caused this to happen in the first place, so this is probably not very useful for any other users, but you helped me a lot, so thanks a bunch alexander1970.

If anyone wishes to have more information about anything about this, I will gladly provide it.
Remember to stay at home everyone, play some Wii, stay healthy!

I get that message every time I play Wii Fit or other games that require Wii balance board....
Every time I return to the menu the message of death appears.... my solution is to delete the save including the channel.
Many people have had this problem for years and I still don't know why it happens with Wii Fit.

Hmm, that does fit what happened to me. I got this message after Wii Fit Plus was played using the Balance Board.
I just tested it, but did not get the error this time. I opened Wii Fit Plus via USB Loader GX, played one round of a mini game, returned too Wii System Menu, turned the Wii off, restarted it again and everything worked as it was supposed to. I will monitor this and report back if it happens again

It usually happens randomly, there are times when it doesn't show up. When I had my unmodified wii I never had this problem, it was after the modification. I think the cIOS has some compatibility issue with the wii balance board, but I'm not sure about it. Or maybe USB Loader GX causes it.
It may also be that Nintendo in its updates has added some protection or something similar.

As I wrote in my first post, my gf and me were playing Wii Fit Plus for weeks and months and nothing ever happened, yesterday was the first time and the things that changed are some cIOSs/IOSs updates and the installation of Snes9x GX. I don't think I can provide a sysCheck from before I updated the cIOSs/IOSs since that one got overwritten

So I can only think that it is the cIOS that cause the brick, but as no one can confirm it.... even with my disk original it happens.
Well, try not to play too much with the wii balance board, you'll avoid that damn message.

do you have the Wifit channel installed on your sysmenu ?
doesn't that channel have a live-update feature to edit the animated banner by reading the savegame ? I'm talking only about the animated banner (the one you see before launching the channel, doesn't it display some Miis, or last user's data?)
it can be a banner brick, but only on specific condition, when the data to display is corrupted, or something nintendo didn't thought about? (like current date format? it can be anything the banner tries to load/display)
If you have that (useless really) channel installed on sysMenu, just delete it. you need to launch the game to check your stats, but it's better than bricking randomly.

If it's not installed, then I don't know what could corrupt the file system, and even less fix it automatically by just entering maintenance mode without deleting the problematic file or channel. you only entered, turn internet OFF and launched an unrelated homebrew...
Could it be internet checking?
Could it be another channel (if you have bootmii you have an old console, which probably still has the Vote channel, the weather, etc.)
Could some of these channel cause such issue? disabling the net is maybe disabling the channel's connection test, or something like that, and generating a "blank/default/not bricking" animated banner.
Did you ever patch these channels or the IOS to load the info from riiconnect24 instead of nintendo's Connect24 servers?
Riiconnect24 need both the channel and the IOS31 and IOS80 to be patched specifically. if you update the IOS with modmii, the patch is missing.

Or maybe it's just a "Connect24" issue, not a full internet setting problem. You can try to re-enable the net and see if the problem rises again.

that's only supposition at this time.

@XFlak, sorry to summon you here, it might be unrealated to the problem in this thread (I could have posted that in your thread), but just a question for my own knowledge: Does modmii have support for Riiconnect24 patched consoles? if someone had them patched, and decide to update the console by installing the modmii clean generated wads 31&80, do you know if it's a problem?
I didn't see any riiconnect mention in modmii sources, nor even sure syscheck has these patches info to report them as such.

Hello.:)

The Wii Fit Plus Game and the Board arrived today.

First I installed the Game with USBloader GX (r1272) install Option (on IOS249 because on 58 it freezes at 33 Percent).
Then I first booted the Game from within USBLoader GX.
It starts and goes right into the Configuration Setup.
(I am not telling what the nice "Advisor" had to complain about .....).
Then I made the First Test and this Things, had to be told that I am too fat and that my "Wii Fit calculated" Age is 4 Years more than my actual Age.......:shy:).

After I was "persuaded to a personal Goal" and asked if I would do it "password-protected",I returned to the USBLoader.
I re-bootet/turned off the Wii several Times and no Issues appeared.:)

Then I installed the EU Channel for the Wii Fit Plus.
It starts but booted into an Error Message like:
"No user data available. Please restart the Game to create new User Data. Back to the Wii Menu."

Then I inserted the Game Disc and booted the Disc to see the blue ERROR #002 Screen (as expected because Updates are disabled in the Priiloader).
After changing the Settings the Game boots and made the same as on the USBLoader GX (except that my calculated Age is now 37...:D).
Wii Fit Plus Channel works now,it shows the last Measurements on the Banner and boots directly into the Wii Fit Lobby.

After that I changed the USBLoader to the real Save and deleted the EmuNAND Save.
The Game boots now with my "37 Aged" Save.

I tried it a few Times from USBLoader GX and from the Wii Fit Plus Channel (needs of Course the Disc when I continue with the Training) without any Issues.

So this was the Wi Fit Plus Experience for me actual.I can say all Combinations work and has apparently maybe nothing to do with OP @Yaws Issue(s).

Thank you.:)

So riconnect24 could be the cause?
Mmm, because of this I can not play wii balance board games
I have two wii fit channels installed, the one of the first game and second (plus), I must remove them?. I wouldn't want to delete save games

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
