Hacking Backup NAND.

So I've had my Wii U modded with CBHC for over a month now and everything works fine however I was unable to backup the NAND before installing CBHC because I could not find my 2GB SD card at the time.

If I want to restore my Wii U to factory so I can backup the NAND what should I do?

What I'm thinking of doing:

1. Uninstall games and keep the saves if possible.

2. Uninstall CBHC.

3. Backup NAND to 2GB SD Card.

4. Reinstall CBHC.

All suggestions are welcome.

You can backup the NAND with CBHC installed. If you don't want to do that, you can uninstall CBHC, backup your NAND, and then reinstall CBHC. You don't need to uninstall any games, unless you're trying to make your NAND smaller when you compress it later.

you don't need to uninstall anything. just backup the otp along with the slc. that's really all you need. if you uninstall cbhc, you just need the slc.

Just one thing to note: a 2GB SD card will likely not hold a Wii U NAND backup - you'll need at least a 16GB card (white console) or a 64GB card (black console) in order to perform a full image backup.

MLC is optional, not a must have.

An EVO 512GB card was not recognized by nanddumper, although I used it to install CBHC and eventually games onto my USB external.

I'll eventually try with a 128GB card but for the time being I'm too lazy to remove it from the 2DS XL.

2GB or a bit more should be enough when you don't dump the mlc.

MLC is optional, not a must have.

When I wrote this, I didn't know that "Wii U NAND Dumper" was a thing that existed, and was talking about Mocha redNAND, which doesn't have options like this. Sorry for the confusion!

In this case, a 2GB card would indeed suffice.
