Hey guys, got my 2DS up and running with CFW, but I want to make sure I don't get banned. What precautions should I take? Also, I went to the eshop to get Kirby clash deluxe since it's free, but I would have to register a Nintendo network id to do so. If I install from a CIA, is it safer than connecting an id? And lastly, I saw that there is a hack for unlimited gem apples. Could this get me into any trouble if I use it? Thanks in advance.

I use a CFW on my 3DS and have not been banned. I suspect only people who edit Pokemon saves, cheat online and try to play pirated games online get banned. Can't guarantee what will happen to you.

editing pokemon saves isnt really a thing to get banned on. Ya it might get a global link ban. But not a lfcs ban. But none of them are certain.

Playing pirated games online does not result in a ban, the only time it ever has was with the leaks of Pokemon Sun/Moon and that was just the effects of playing those games online before launch. Cheating online will more often than not result in a ban.
It's worth noting that at this point, only cheating online seems to cause bans and not much else.

people cheat so often in Mario Kart I'm sure THAT doesn't even ban anymore

2DS is no longer newest system so your safe

Well, y'know, if you're not grinding along, collecting 5 apples every 12 hours, are you really getting the full Kirby Clash experience, or are you just cheating yourself?

(*You can spend 50 cents or something to boost your collection rate to 8 apples ever 12 hours, which really makes a lot of sense if you're going into it for the long haul.)

Haha I've been playing on a torrented Mario Kart 7 cia for the past several years BUT I had purchased a cartridge when it first came out sometime 8 or 9 years ago. So if they did "investigate" me they could have seen that on my Nintendo Network ID I had played the cartridge version before (assuming they collect that much data.) Never plugged the cart into my hacked 3DS though. I think the general rule is to play only on unmodified games that are within the region of your system and to not cheat or use hacks online.

Would I get banned for simply logging in to a device running CFW?
No

I'm not edgy enough.
Buy the game then.
