Hi peeps I've made a booboo.

  • loaded up my micro SD card in Windows and it suggested scanning and fixing (which I did)
  • when I next tried to put the micro SD back into my switch , the contents of /Switch kept disappearing
  • so I copied the contents to my PC, formatted the micro SD (from exfat to exfat)
  • now when I try to boot into Atmosphere I get "fatal error", "Program ID: 0100000000000005"
  • I have emunand but I don't know if its hidden partition or folder
Can anyone halps please with this?

there’s a distinct possibility that your exfat partition is corrupt.

If you have stuff you’d like to try to keep you should do a backup of everything.

do a bit for bit copy of the sd card using minitool partition wizard
if yiu have game saves you must keep you can grab them with NXNANDManager

Once backed up:

test your sd card for corruption with h2testw
format your card as FAT32 with rufus

redeploy everything by following a decent guide (like this one) https://rentry.org/SwitchHackingIsEasy

Is it possible to still do this, if I have already formatted the micro SD?

I have a copy of the contents, prior to the format saved on my PC.
Once you have formatted the SD card you won't be able to do a bit-for-bit copy of the data*

If the Emunand was files-based you're still Ok but if it was partition-based you will have lost that data for all intents and purposes but even then you can make do with just the contents. You just won't have your game saves.

Test your card to make sure it's OK and then move on

(* technically a data recovery tech could do it but that's outside the cost and scope of this project)

Currently doing this now, its a 400gb micro sd :rofl2:

Also how do I know if I have a files based emunand or a partition based one?
I noted on my micro SD (prior to wipe) that the available space plus the used up space pretty much equated to 400gb.

Also after the testing is done on the micro SD (and assumed there are no errors) am I essentially just running the whole process of setting up Atmosphere exploit on a new unpatched Switch console?

Partition base has a hidden partition, where file base just some files, you shouldn't be using exFAT, with how terrible Nintendo exFAT driver is. Test the card empty with no content on it, it needs to write and verify.

yes, that’s a big one…it will take quite a while.

View the contents of this file in your backups

sd:/emummc/emummc.ini

If it has a line “sector = 0x02” then it was partition based.
If it has a line “path=…” then it was files based.
I noted on my micro SD (prior to wipe) that the available space plus the used up space pretty much equated to 400gb.
If it was partition based you would be missing about 30Gb. It’s quite possible this was a files based emunand on exfat which can be pretty dicey.

Correct. We’re starting from square 1.

I have both of these lines present. Is that possible? If it is useful, I had converted this from sxos emunand to Atmosphere emunand.

[emummc]
enabled=1
sector=0x2
path=emuMMC/ER00
id=0x0000
nintendo_path=emuMMC/ER00/Nintendo
That's normal and fine, path just points to the redirected SD card root (screenshots etc will get stored in there)
You have a partition based emuNAND.

Sorry…fell asleep. As mentioned by @The Real Jdbye this is partition based. The formatting of your sd card just means you won’t be able to recover your game saves, that’s all. Not a big deal.

next steps will be:

1) format your card as FAT32 with rufus (do not use exfat)
2) redeploy everything https://rentry.org/SwitchHackingIsEasy

Update:

I've followed the rentry guide to get everything setup with a partition based emunand.

However everytime I try to actually boot into emunand I just get stuck in a black screen.

No worries.

When you boot up…

What method are you using?
Do you see Hekate boot up?
Do you see an Atmosphere logo?
Do you see a Nintendo Logo?

I am using TegraRCMGui and injecting hekate 5.7.2 bin.
I do see hekate IPL
I see atmosphere logo
I see Nintendo Switch logo
then after that point is where I'm stuck on a black screen.

My sysnand is on 5.1.0.
I did not choose to do the step that installs AutoRCM.

Oh, OK! Perfect on all counts. We’re really close. Quick question…do you have anything in the /atmosphere/contents directory? If so, please move the contents directory (or rename it) to contents.bk and try the boot again.

I just checked. It looks like I don't even have a folder named contents in /atmosphere.

That’s great. Please paste you /bootloader/hekate_ipl.ini here.

Provided you have a working exosphere.ini and /atmosphere/hosts/defaults.txt file as outlined here: https://rentry.org/ExosphereDNSMITM
We can safely try booting CFW+Sysnand in Hekate to see it will let us boot that way. This will tell us if it’s a CFW or Nand issue.

Yes I have setup exosphere.ini and default.txt.

My hekate_ipl.ini:
[config]
autoboot=0
autoboot_list=0
bootwait=3
backlight=100
autohosoff=0
autonogc=1
updater2p=0
bootprotect=0

[Atmosphere CFW]
payload=bootloader/payloads/fusee.bin
icon=bootloader/res/icon_payload.bmp

[Stock SysNAND]
fss0=atmosphere/package3
stock=1
emummc_force_disable=1
icon=bootloader/res/icon_switch.bmp

Ouch, doesn't windows just recommend that in general because of the Emunand partition, since one part of the SD card isn't accessible and thus it wants to keep reformatting it, also glad you guys almost fixed it!
