My Switch is equipped with a FAT32 formatted good microSD card that has hekate/atmosphere on it and I use the emunand launch from the launch menu. It has worked fine for months till today when I turned it off (I had turned it on/off many times before this but it was all fine).

Now when I try to go to emunand, it gives a blackish screen after the atmosphere logo before the Nintendo Switch logo could appear. Before this blackish screen, I got a vertical-horizontal error saying an error occurred with loading atmosphere or something like that, "panic error".

I didn't change anything so I've no clue how this can occur. Do I need to change any files? I didn't update to the latest atmosphere, so I'm on where the Switch was at 9.1, which means the stable release just before the latest release as of writing.

Thanks in advance for the help. :)

Sounds like as corruption. Run a chkdsk on it. If that doesn't work try to recopy the atmosphere. If that doesn't work redo the emunand.

Tried the first two, didn't work. I went on hekate and got the latest release and replaced everything as well, there is like a weird blackish kind of screen after the Atmosphere splash screen logo, like as if the screen is filled with water around the edges.

How do I go about redoing the emunand without affecting any saves or installed games? I have no idea where to start in this case.

bump, please help quick... :(

Don't know, sorry man. You might be able to image the emunand partition into a bin for reading of of the image (don't see why you couldn't) and from there you *should* be able to extract your saves but this is a very detailed process. Not aware of any guides to do so .

Edit - found the thread i saw talking about extracting saves from a nand image.

https://www.reddit.com/r/SwitchHacks/comments/cxdi0o/extract_saves_from_nand_backup/
https://gbatemp.net/threads/extract-save-from-nand-backup.514261/

just need to get your emummc partition saved as a nand image and try to load with HacDiskMount.

Edit 2 - looks like others have successfully done this, read here -

https://gbatemp.net/threads/any-way-to-backup-emummc.545176/

As I said...this is going to be quite a process for you. I would try to do all the above before asking for help in reswitched, it looks like all of the info is there, you'll just have to slog through it.

Edit 3 - Looks like most of your hard work is not needed =)

https://github.com/eliboa/NxNandManager

So once you have it mounted you can extract the user partition, mount with the game save extractor posted here -

https://gbatemp.net/threads/extract-save-from-nand-backup.514261/#post-8299285

boom!

be sure to read that thread fully...others have very helpful pointers on how to re-inject the saves.

I've contacted eliboa to ask if extracting gamesaves from a emummc partition could be a future feature. I will update this post if I get a response.

Also...just wanted to say that I had a similar issue with my emummc once. Built it...booted, then i rebooted and got a black screen at boot. Had to redo the emummc. No idea what went wrong or how. So what you are describing is not unknown to me, though Ive not researched enough to see if it happens often or to others.

I'm extremely grateful for your help and research, when I get the time I will try this! Quick question though, do I skip everything up till your "Edit 3"?

Correct. You mount with nxnandmanager, extract user partition, then mount user partition and extract using his scripts. Then you'll create a save for each game you want to import on your new emummc, helping you understand which save is for which game, then inject them back in.

Good luck!

Thanks, but it seems the program doesn't work for me. This menu doesn't load at all.

It would be worthwhile to post the details of your SD card and partition to the reported issue here -

https://github.com/eliboa/NxNandManager/issues/12

Definitely post your details there so he can see that others are also having the same issue.

In good news he said he already planned on the save data support but that its going to take time as he's going to write his own fat32 driver for the application after the next release. So I would expect months before it becomes reality.
