Atari Emulator very laggy

Hello.

I have a problem. I have an Atari Lynx emulator Handy.
I've played Ms. Pac-Man, but it's extremely laggy on 4x screen size and above. 3x screen size lags too sometimes. So I can only do 2x screen size, but then the window is really small so it;s still unplayable.

What are the system requirements to play an Atari Emulator?

My specs:
Intel Core i5-5200U CPU @ 2.20GHz
RAM: 4GB.
GFX is something with Radeon HD or something.

EDIT: The emulator also can't find a controller while it's for sure plugged in.

There's nothing you can do. This is a limitation of the emulator, and until it's developed more it won't be able to run smoothly at higher resolutions.
