We can have Human Plus enhancements in the future and live for hundreds of years, most of the technology is there already or will be there soon. At this rate it will be in the next 10-30 years.

The thing with aging, is your mind is not really the same as your body in all ways.

You CAN extend your life a bit just from being ruthless about what you eat and your lifestyle. Most might not realise is, but brocoli and garlic contain a substance that greatly aids in cellular rejuvination. And if you just refuse to injest things that only aid in shortening your life, that will help as well.

But eventually you come to grips with how long do you wish to experience life? Can you find enough things to learn, to experience, to accomplish that will make life worth being around for?

Sometimes one of my biggest burdens, is being unable to unlearn some of the things I have learned. Not all of life, is equally pleasant.

I'd be a bit happier though, living in a cloned me, than is a mechanical me. Yeah being in a me that was forever 25 would be a lot more fun.

hah, leave it to the non-christians to bypass all that ethical hogwash down the drain. 'fraid of doing cloning because of religious and moral persecutions? move to the middle east.

now, mind you, i'm not discriminating here, but we have to admit that it's very convenient doing stuff like these in parts of the world where people don't care.

I wouldn't think of moral/religious persecutions when thinking of banning research like this. I'd think of "How dangerous is this if we are right?" problems surrounding the research.

Cloning opens a lot of entirely not even remotely religous problems actually.

We have people sure that until a child is breathing independent of the mother, that it is 'just a part of her body to do with as she pleases'.

Now we start adding clones to the mix and it becomes a question of 'is it your body?'. If it is, and it commits a murder, do we jail both the clone and the source?

Theres some really messy legal issues that could get really ugly, and never once have anything to do with religious concepts actually.

Should we make improvements to the human condition?

Is it a good idea at all?

200 years ago, I'd often already be dead. 1000 years ago I almost certainly would be.
But I wonder, were they always worse off than us?
I am damned sure the common cold and all the weird shit afflictions weren't around then the way they are now.
We've gotten to live longer, but it is often a longer and crappier more fragile existence too.

I don't feel a fraction as 'healthy' as someone from the days of the pioneers. I am just able to just keep on living.

There's an old joke. If you don't smoke you live an extra 10 years, but you won't miss them, because shitting in your pants is really not all the thrilling.

Before anyone goes further with ideas, Cloning still contains mutations regardless. In other words, making a perfect clone of one person is quite hard since the person being cloned mutates in one way or the other when alive. Think of cancer for example, it kills of cells, but the way it does it isn't random. Also the reason why cancer attaches into a body. They could look alike, but making an exact clone is hard if not near impossible.

But as said before, there are questions needing to be answered..
