It is not master race because by using arm9hax you lose your ability to boot into sysnand without an SDcard. You give up crucial functionality for 10 seconds of boot time.

To avoid all the troubles and time to backup my SD (80gb/128gb used), I've just used another SD of 4gb reinstalling rxtools on it. From the bigger one I've just backed up the sysNand.bin in order to re-inject it on my 3ds before to launch the arm9loaderhax.3dsx.The latest setup for Arm9loaderhax I did took 4 hours and used up 60GB of space on my computer for backups, as opposed to 5 minutes and 200MB for Menuhax. Menuhax is definitely more user-friendly and lower risk. I'd say it would be good enough for your everyday homebrew/CFW user.

Most people have an SD card inside their 3DS though, it wouldn't make sense for someone to set up a CFW without an SD card. Those who don't use SD cards are ones who prefer to keep their games on cartridges, and are unlikely to be CFW users anyway so they wouldn't have this problem in the first place. Hence the SD card problem is kind of paradoxical. It is not master race because by using arm9hax you lose your ability to boot into sysnand without an SDcard. That's why AuReiNAND blocks FIRM0/FIRM1 when updating. Those are the partitions where A9LH is stored.Isn't it risky to use Sysnand as the main nand, even for A9LH.
cant it be blocked, if you installed an update that blocks it?

So theoretically, we could safely install future updates without making any major changes to the setup, right? That's why AuReiNAND blocks FIRM0/FIRM1 when updating. Those are the partitions where A9LH is stored.

Yes, A9LH is basically unblockable. So theoretically, we could safely install future updates without making any major changes to the setup, right?
People always run back to the faster boot time, but there's more to it than that. I personally think being able to unbrick your console witbout a hardmod is the best thing about it. Sure if you somehow do screw up your console so bad that you need a hardmod, it won't work, but that's why the amazing (like legit amazing) developers test everything before releasing it to the public. Plus the 3ds scene is now moving towards A9LH and away from just homebrew and cfw. And later on it may be possible to load sysnand back without an sd card (this might be completely wrong). And I don't see how being able to load your 3ds without a sd card is a critical functionality if you have cfw since mostly everything you do with your system will be on emuNAND and not sysnand which you need a sd card to use.It is not master race because by using arm9hax you lose your ability to boot into sysnand without an SDcard. It's currently being worked on. Then you'll have your "dream CFW solution".It's still an incomplete hack that is being marketed as if it was a dream CFW solution.Just because you personally don't see a problem with it,doesn't mean there isn't a problem with it.

You pretty much get the point perfectly. Sure, installing A9LH can cause a brick if you do something really dumb, but in the future if you do dumb things A9LH is better brick protection than any other option.People always run back to the faster boot time, but there's more to it than that. That's true, it's not a perfect solution. But it hasn't been marketed by the developers as an ideal setup either. I think mostly it's hype from users. It's important to highlight the risks and shortcomings tooIt's still an incomplete hack that is being marketed as if it was a dream CFW solution.Just because you personally don't see a problem with it,doesn't mean there isn't a problem with it.
Yeah, A9LH would be useful to some people, but not everyone. If you have a good, stable setup already, it's probably better than risking a brick from the A9LH process. There's a cost-benefit scale here somewhere...ok well since my N3DS XL boots into reinand in 9 seconds im not gonna do this... going to 2.1 scares me and Id rather not go throught the trouble of doing a hardmod. Waiting 9 seconds isnt that bad![]()
Guess it comes down to choosing whether to spend some time researching and doing something tricky now to save yourself trouble in the future, or use a simple low-risk setup that's usually good enough everyday, but has risks or downsides in the long run.You pretty much get the point perfectly. Well, not like it really matters. Do you ever even use your 3DS without an SD card? You can't even run any hax without an SD card.Once that happens I will gladly switch over to A9LH( I was going to switch before I knew sysnand didn't load without SD),I was just pointing out that to truly say something is "master race" it has to be unequivocally better.

I know how to set this up but that chance of random bricks even with doing it correctly scares me. Like when people were all like "Don't downgrade with sysupdater yet" and people were messing up and blaming it. I don't want to end up like that xD. I already panicked with sysupdater when i said screw it and downgraded without any problems. But this makes me a little bit more panicky. That's true, it's not a perfect solution. Random bricks? There is no possibility for a random brick, and not a single random brick has been reported by any user. The risk of doing this is exactly the same risk as downgrading.I know how to set this up but that chance of random bricks even with doing it correctly scares me.
