even updating emunand is not safe?

  • Fixed A9LH boot detection
  • Added a new "updated syaNAND" mode, which is enabled by the "/rei/updatedsysnand" flag. In this mode, sysNAND is booted by default using the 9.6-10.4 FIRM, L boots emuNAND with 9.0 FIRM (for arm9 exploits and such) and L+R boots emuNAND with the 9.6-10.4 FIRM.
  • When sysNAND is booted on a A9LH setup, a patch (courtesy of delebile) is applied that makes updates skip writing to FIRM0 and FIRM1. This way, sysNAND can be updated without losing A9LH.

You can update sysnand doing that.

Sweet! I did it! Is it bad that I'm a little sad that my 2ds will never work without an sd card in it? :( I'm not a fan of change.

Think of it this way: If you have friends or family come over, take the SD out so it looks like it's bricked. Then they can't possibly update it or screw it up otherwise (physical damage being the exception of course).

Then they'll think he's an idiot lol.

He should be fine if he autoboots into emuNAND though, how can someone really screw his 2DS that bad?

You'd be surprised at how people can stumble upon things that are supposedly "idiot-proof" and then end up making it worse than when they originally found it.
