Homebrew ARM9Loader -- Technical Details and Discussion

Guess I need to cross-post. Didn't realize how many threads there were about this...

I built it fine on the first try, but I don't fully understand how it all works. Specifically, the firmware files used to compile it. Does it matter which Version my sysnand is? Why would I build with n3ds firmware files, and install that in my o3ds? Can you use this, and the super-duper patched TWL and AGB firms at the same time? If so, I'd like to cold boot into sysnand with sigchecks patched (and TWL and AGB patched), while still being able to launch GW emunand.

Oh... And I want to do it on both an O3DS, and an N3DS. Now... Which payload/CFW should I be using to accomplish this?

The FIRM partitions are corrupted in a specific way for ARM9loaderhax to work.
You can TWL and AGB FIRMs yet with the current payloads.

Use CakesFW with a 9.2 firmware.bin to still be able to run GW exploits.

You should really check the links in op. They describe why and what is happening in details.

And afaik arm9lh is a nono for gateway.

So you use cake plus DS profile? Will menuhax work too? Does it meter if sigs are disabled in cakes?

I forgot which thread, but I read that someone was able to launch a GW emunand with this installed. But... if this breaks TWL, I don't want to use it anyway :/.

Suppose I wanted to play around though, it can be easily undone by flashing the firmware, right? (I'm hard modded).

I'm sorry if you're talking about something else, but I can play GBA games just fine (as CIAs with the modified AGB FIRM) and the modified TWL FIRM made my flash cart work, and they still work with a9lh.

No. I boot reiNAND from HBL_CIA without any issues. And no, it doesn't matter. You just have to use a 9.2 FIRM.

What's considered a full reboot?

Also, the HBL cia works on the 10.2 FIRM as well. It's the one I use and the HBL cia works fine.

Full reboot = hardware reboot (like System Settings does)
Soft reboot = firmlaunching/FIRM reloading

There are no signpatches for 10.2 FIRMs, sorry.
And HBL_CIA works fine for me to boot into reiNAND.

I'd currently recommend AuReiNAND (mod), as that's ready out of the box and allows you to boot into your sysNAND as well.

I now got the key input checking working on my bootloader. I haven't tested the bootloaderloader, but the bootloader is working. Will upload binarys after I checked, if the bootloader loader is working.

Yes, a9lh can boot into AuReiNAND, ReiNAND, and Cakes.

Although only AuReiNAND allows you to boot into sysNAND as well. (From what I now.)

Well, with (Au)ReiNand you can boot into a different NAND by simply holding a button upon boot.

AuReiNand works very well for this. For those of us without hardmods, it's very useful to have the ability to boot into 9.0 sysNAND to run Decrypt9.
