Hacking Arm11.bin from github just completely freezes, pressing select does nothing...?

You need arm9.bin and arm11.bin on the root of your SD. That would explain the crash, as it's trying to load a file that's not there.

All that is in the .7z is a 3ds folder, arm9loaderhax.bin, and SafeA9LHInstaller.dat
No. There should be arm9.bin and arm11.bin in that .7z file. Just confirmed this for myself. Nothing to do with older or new versions; the latest release (v2.0.6, which the guide links to) has those files.

Hello, having the exact same issue as OP. The link for the SafeA9LHInstaller on the guide was dead so I just went to the github manually and downloaded it. There was no arm11.bin file in the zip and as a noob I didn't realize it. Will try to new link munchy_cool has posted.
