I'm not sure if the word "model" is misleading but I tried searching online and couldn't find anything about my burning question. I have a few controllers I've had over the years but noticed that I have two different FCC IDs: POO-WC45 and UMB-WCF7. The last four characters are on the other ID line underneath, but seems the wiimotes don't actually have anything like a model name. Hence, they might not be any different after all but that makes me curious on the two separate FCC applications. WC45 may seem older and was giggled about back in the day over POO, so perhaps I may personally hold onto those ones for that marginally older age.
