So does anyone know how to split a cia? I recently downloaded a rom hack that is 4.5 GB and have been unable to transfer it to my SD card due to the 4 GB limit. If anyone knows how to split cias or an alternative method to get it onto my 3ds, I would really appreciate the help.

it is to download a cia of 1,8GB in Boop or Socket punch. But it didn't work because it is a too bigger file so I want to split this cia into 2 and download 1 by 1.

Can you explain what you mean? You are having trouble downloading the file?
Or are you having trouble copying it to the SD card?

If you have a to split a file into peices for storage or transmission on Windows, you can use 7zip.
No way to reassemble or un7zip the file on your 3ds, though, afaik.

EDIT: Thought about this, and the only way to bypass the SD FAT32 issue is to use homebrew that can install over a network. I have not tried this at all, but it says it supports network installation of CIA files. Please let us know how it goes :)

  • Install titles/tickets from a file system, over a local network, or over the Internet with a URL or QR code.
  • Automatically imports title seeds on installation, either from the Internet or the SD card.
