Hello everyone!

A friend of mine is currently in Japan, and Nintendo Switch costs a bit less than it does here in Italy. I know the console is region-free and that applies to the eshop\cartridge games...but what about updates? If i'm not mistaken for the 3DS there were region-wise FW versions (i remember a "E" or a "U" at the end of the FW version) but the 3DS was also region locked.

Plus, considering the console will be bought in japan, can I take it to any repair center in Italy\Europe in case of problems?

Thanks :)

What if i use an out of region game with a game update higher than my firmware version to update my switch?

There are not region specific differences. They simply relocate units when there is a shortage, I got a switch which was me meant for the Japanese market (judging by identifier on the box).
