Have anyone experienced enough here actually tried to analyze them for any passive/quiet malwares or sniffers, maybe inside of the firmware/hardware/ICs???
I'm seriously surprised nobody cares to actually check them out for potential threats. And i can't find any projects on github that would try to document the hardware/firmware throughly.
If i was good at electrical engineering or firmware-reversing, i would definitely create at least a short documentation for 3ds community to know what exactly we're dealing with.
- example of why i'm concerned a little.

Plus all those darkweb/deepweb hacker stories going around on the internet.

If you know of any OSS projects that break down the hardware of a flashcard and show how it works in detail, let me know.

Um because the fw and hardware is encrypted to outsiders that's why

And No one cares

Sniffers of what? The slot-1 bus is not directly connected to memory and is not normally used at all unless accessing a slot-1 device anyway

(and if you prefer to do e-banking on Opera DS or DSOrganize, it's just easier to sniff WEP)

What do you mean by that? And why is there no hardware documentation of any of existing flashcards?

i was just imagining some blackhat/underground hacker has already created some sort of exploit that targets these flashcards....or maybe some of the flashcard manufacturers could be doing the same as the creators of Opera browser: say that your product is not collecting your private data, and then do it anyway because nobody actually reads "Terms & Conditions".

I'm pretty sure the flashcard_core repo which is also used by the ntrboot flasher can be at least partly counted as documentation.
Also you're overly concerned, since these carts can't access any critical memory region or the SD card anyway, being they're run in DS mode and they're SLOT1 cards

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Also how can manufactures collect data when the DS mode doesn't share the 3DS connection settings and nobody bothers setting up internet access for DS games since it only supports WEP?

Sorry if i asked stupid questions. But is there any hardware documentation of these carts??

Well I guess with the nature of these devices some suspects might arise, but since DS mode carts are put in basically what's a sandbox there's nothing to worry about ;)

thanks nintendo employee for warrning us, we will be sure NOT to give you any documentation if there is any.
if nintendo know who to stop the R4, then maybe nintendo will try to block the card from running in bootrom.

joke aside, i think only the card manufacturers know how it's actully works, becuase i've never seen a card made by memeber here.

Lol Nintendo stop caring starting with 7.0
