Hacking Applying Trainers

Hello, I was just wondering what I need to do to apply the Trainer(in this case Lost in Blue) to my Game Save( I know I have to have a new one to do so). Is there a program I need to do this? Thank you for all your help.

its not a save game editor, its a ips patch.
