I'm trying to convert some YouTube videos of a really good violin player into .mp3s, but I can't seem to get it working. I tried online converters and none of them seem to work. Vixy seemed to be the most legit one, so I tried using that... put in the link to the video, it converted it, then gave me a download for the mp3... but when I get the mp3, it's always 0 kilobytes and none of my mp3 players will open it (iTunes and Winamp). Does anyone have experience with this? If so, what program or site do you use? Thanks!

Alternative use &fmt=18 at the end of the file to get it in MP4 format.
Now you simply demux the audio with something like YAMB:

You will need a copy of mp4box:

It will be in AAC format but most things will either play it and if not then conversion is trivial.

I use http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/33042 to add a download link to youtube, it ends up looking something like this:

If you must use flv then &fmt=6 will yield a higher quality. Neither will give a really good audio quality like a CD rip or something but it is passable for a phone/mp3 player.

I always use this program for that sort of thing http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/

Its really neat, reliable and easy to use, it lets you firstly download videos off youtube as flv's, and its also a converter. So you can convert what youve downloaded to various formats such as mov, avi, wmv, 3gp and mp3. Best of all its freeware!
