Hacking Question Anyone else having issues with hekate and SD cards?

Whenever hekate for 4.x crashes, it makes the SD card unusable with hetake (When the payload launches, it says "Failed to mount SD card (make sure that it is inserted)" and continues to ofw). Formatting using SDFormatter and guiformat makes the sd card work with hekate again (Thanks ReSwitched user-support), but after it crashes again, the whole process starts all over again (Including 3 hour restore of sd card backup).

My question is: Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I can't seem to find anyone else talking about it on Discord or GBATemp.

Yeah my SD card is 128gb. I guess Ill use that one for games and switch to 32gb for homebrew whenever I use it.

Format your SD card to fat32. I did it with the program Rufus.

With the SDfiles from this release https://gbatemp.net/threads/hekate-ipl-4-x-hbl-on-4-x.503471/ Files : https://github.com/nx-python/hekate-ipl-4x/releases (sdfiles.zip) unzip it and put in root of the sdcard.

So CTCAER Payload and the sdcard.zip from other release and i can launch hbmenu with my Samsung Evo 64gb SDXC card. On my 4.0.1 Switch

Yes, I have had problems with a microSD Samsung EVO XC1 64GB, formatted in fat32, exactly that message shows "Failed to mount SD card.........."
but, with a Kingston old 8GB card works, but super slow.

Yeah the one that is released with the sdfiles have problems with SDcards Thats why i wrote you should use CtCaers version.

I have a 32gb kingston sdhc micro sd and no matter how many times i format it fat32 exfat ntfs or anything it does not work the switch settings does not detect it to format it and the hecate for 5.0.2 does not dectect it even the updated 1.3 one from another thread on here and I dont have money to get a new one yet so im looking for any other way to get it to work it works on my andriod phone and my computer so idk whats up

Now that's worrying! Just two days ago I tried with my 64 GB card and couldn't format it afterwards. I'm now using my 128 GB card. I sure hope it won't damage that one as well.

ican still format it but its so annoying it just wont detect it im gonna have to go buy a new one rip 30 bucks

Try formatting using this guide https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/installation/sdxc_formatting.md with allocation size (or whatever it is) of 32768. It worked for me

i just tried this and it did not work im gonna get a new sd sometime soon because i wanna try this homebrew and i already have a ghetto tin foil jig in my joycon

Tin foil is a VERY BAD idea! Use a paperclip instead using this guide https://gbatemp.net/threads/paperclip-rcm-jig.502087/ or order a jig off of ebay

yeah ik its bad but i just wanted to see if it would work i have a 3d printer in my basement but its my dads im gonna ask him to print me some off soon but i just wanted to get it working but nope guess the sd is fucked somehow or the switch just hates it

I know that just slotting it in is a horrible idea, as it can get stuck, but what if we taped it to the JoyCon where Pins 9 and 10 would be?
