Hardware Any negative consequences with DVD Drive Swapping??

Hey Guys quick question..

Bricked my launch Wii that had a Wiikey v1 installed on it.. Since I'm going to purchase a new Wii, I wanted to know if I can just swap out the DVD Drive and install the old DVD Drive (w/ the Wiikey attached) into my newly purchased Wii system without any problems? Or will I have to do some steps first in order for this to work (similar to the steps needed for Xbox360 DVD Drive swaps) ?

Drives are not tied to the console, you can swap them at will.

Is this applicable to cross-region swapping a drive? Say putting a drive from a Korean machine into a PAL machine??

Should be fine swapping region although I would change your chip beforehand if you have one.

That's what I love about the Wii. You can just swap in any drive into any Wii system and it won't give you any issues (as long as it's from the same region, if it has a chip installed).
