just wondering... this was asked about a few months back before cloud games like AC odyssey was a thing... Rainway had a failed attempt at that... is there any hope for something like an homebrew version of moonlight coming to switch anytime soon..? Anyone you know working on something like this currently?

This sounds great, personally I don't have the right video card for moonlight or whatever so steam streaming sounds worth a go, plus this guy is not averse to using Nintendo's official video decoding binary (and letting the end user build the app to avoid distribution legalities), which might get better results quicker than a fully legal solution (which he's also planning to do). Everybody wins.

I personally do not care if he is using the official sdk. Just put it up on the "usual places" and there's no problem

Rainway are the people behind ac odyssey game streaming, they're also still developing their program for the switch

Right.. thanks for the info. I wasn’t aware of that. My only concern with them, especially if there are the one designing streaming platform for the like of Ubisoft is that I’m not sure how keen Nintendo is going to be with an official game streaming app that could damage their cloud revenue ecosystem.
It seems to me our only real chance right now is with homebrew

Just because its not in active development doesn't mean its not happening. CEO of Rainway stated a month ago, Rainway for the switch was never in "active development". The only reason people think it was in "active development" for the switch is because of websites that cover Nintendo news. These websites gave out false information & never once bothered to get a real statement from Rainway developers. The only thing that was in active development for the switch was a limited proof of concept, not the actual Rainway app. Rainway developers are waiting for Nintendo to approve the full app.

Yeah. They didn't sold it like they were doing an app for the Switch. No reddit post, no trailer using the console, no mention about it ever in they social media... They didn't ever lie. They are good people.

I don’t think anyone is arguing there aren’t good people or don’t have the technology working, but at this stage it doesn’t look like Nintendo is going to approve such an app and it would most certainly happen through homebrew and open source channels first.. but I could be wrong

The way things are going, Rainway partnering with Google for project stream, I wouldn't be surprised if Google bought Rainway sometime in the near future.

They did though, their launch trailer had the switch in it multiple times with someone using it to play games on rainway.

do not sugar coat rainway, he flat out lied, he advertised the switch to get his platform out there. Shameful. Shame Shame Shame... I know what service i'm boycotting...
