Hacking Another noob quetion about uninstalling HBC

A friend asked for help, here's a copy and paste:

I installed a Homebrew channel about 6 months ago and so it's obviously out of date. Can I just delete it or does it need some sort of proper uninstall? Will this new one just patch the old one to be the current version? How should I proceed? Just reformat my Wii?

Just delete it from channels in Wii options

Update instructions:

If you have previously installed The Homebrew Channel, you can update it.

The easiest way to update is using the built-in Online Update functionality.

If you cannot or do not want to connect your Wii to the Internet, simply run the boot.dol
file using any homebrew booting method. For example, you can upload it using wiiload or
you can make a directory inside /apps (for example, /apps/Update) and copy
boot.dol there. Then, simply run it from the previous version of the channel.
