I was sniffing around a System Menu 4.0 wad[1] for a while and had investigated enough to determine that on the balance of probabilities, it was a 4.0E update. Installed it on my PAL Wii (already had IOS60 installed) & it worked fine, but later found it had caused a Wii Settings semi-brick, giving the following screen when I try to access the Wii Settings:

Implying that it wasn't for my region after all.

I have a BootMii (boot2) NAND backup from before this update - can anyone confirm that restoring this backup to my NAND will not cause a full brick, but instead will just carry out a 'system restore'?

Thanks for your assistance

Yep, your Wii will work just fine after a BootMii restore. It's always a good idea to have a backup handy
