I think people are confusing the two anonymous groups.

The one who hacked the PSN and actually do damage.
And there's the ones who just do DDOS attacks.

A shame really that the kids who do the DDOS are the ones who's going to get the blame, even though they said they didn't do it.

You don't understand. Read the post below you. There is NO Anonymous group, there are just people working together randomly doing often terrible things in the name of "free speech"

Now, if the Anon group is really what YOU say it is... I severally doubt that such a group could have the means or group organization to pull off such a stunt as this. So this discussion is pretty much pointless IMHO.

The nature of Anonymous is that everybody is anonymous. Each "Anonymous Spontanous Act" is to be reviewed separately and each "participant" of a given Anonymous meeting/action needs to be identified separately due to the absolute lack of organization in said structure.

You can't "jail" Anonymous because they don't exist - they have no leader, no higher goal, no structure.

If a group of hackers hacks into PSN and steals information anonymously, it does not make them Anonymous as in the term we're defining.

For that to be true, the given group of people would have to act independently from eachother due to a spontanous spark. No such spark was registered, thus no Anonymous act took place.

The hackers are anonymous with a small "a" meaning that we don't know who they are. They're not Anonymous with the capital A because they don't fit to the pattern.

Anyone can type "I'm anonymous" into a text file and save it. Unless there's conclusive proof that the anonymous group did it, they can't really do anything. I think it's more likely an entirely unrelated group put it there as a joke.

Okay. To simplify it for everyone, Anonymous is a title, not a group or body of people. You can get rid of the group or body, but you cannot get rid of a title. Now can we please just get back on topic about whether or not this whole mess is done by the same people who DDOSed Sony or not?
