I use a Wii with USBLoaderGX and have been unable to download codes from Geckocodes since the site went down. My understanding is that the loaders can't just change the retrieval URL to GameHacking due to DDoS protection, and that HTTP connections are redirected to HTTPS.

Are there any efforts to enable USB loaders / homebrew to retrieve cheat codes remotely from GameHacking or another site? One idea was to have a separate smaller server (could be updated periodically like once a month from the main server) to fulfill .txt file requests, which avoids compromising the main site. Would Gamehacking endorse a 3rd party effort to accomplish something similar? Thanks!

I did make a post on the GameHacking forum but didn't get alot of attention:

USB Loader GX, WiiFlow and Dolphin all use the rc24 mirror and Larsenv recently updated it.

I'd like to be wrong, but I don't think GameHacking will introduce an API. And I think that because I know from experience that it could be done in less than a day, yet they've had almost a whole year to do it.
