Hacking acecard2i upgrade with dsi

Haven't really been following to close lately, my son updated his 3ds to the latest fw to play a new game. Is it still possible to upgrade the firmware on the acecard 2i using his older dsi( has not been updated).

If the AK2i isn't blocked by the DSi, it should be able to update using that.

If your ak2i still runs on the dsi and has an HWID (HardWare IDentity) of 81, it can be updated to the latest firmware. Here's the latest bootloader update. You can check your cart's HWID by start > more > help (on the akaio menu). If it's HW:44, it can't be updated.
