To start, I have a N3DS modded with a9lh and Luma3DS. It is on the current firmware (11.1).

OK. My daughter was freeing up some space on the microSD using the options menu. She says she uninstalled what she describes as "some mystery app that didn't have a title and used up 0 blocks". Once that was uninstalled, all custom apps disappeared from the home menu. Emulators, Luma Updater, Freeshop, FBI (non H&S version), etc. Only my pre-mod games and apps are there now.

I can still access FBI through the Health & Safety app, though. Trying to boot into the Luma settings by holding L on boot just results in a black screen.

Can this be fixed? Is it as simple as reinstalling Luma or am I hosed?

Thanks in advance! :)

Best idea I have to get some of your apps back would be to restore your most recent NAND backup (hopefully you have one).

As for the luma settings, isn't that bound to select? Or did you set a custom binding for it?

oops. You are correct about select being bound to Luma settings. I was thinking L as I had it bound to NTR in the past. So, yeah, Luma settings still works.

Maybe she uninstalled a little more than that. Try getting into the eShop if you have the lastest Luma and re-download anything

I tried accessing the eShop and it gave me an error saying that it cannot access the SD card. :/

I can with near certainty, garuntee that any app deleted from the settings' data management cannot break the eshop and/or sd access (nor cause other apps to disappear). Did she delete something through fbi?

She says no. I had told her not to use FBI for anything and she said that's why she was uninstalling stuff through data management.

And I don't think its a failure of the microSD. The custom themes and icons still work just fine.

Well if it wasn't a NAND title that was uninstalled, then I'm left clueless on this.
My initial recommendation stands though that a NAND restore might help. Just be sure to backup your current NAND in case that somehow makes it worse. (If you decide to do it anyway)

Time to revive this thread, unfortunately. :/

Ok. So I did a nand restore (ended up doing it 3 different times, actually) and it didn't work.

I've been playing around with it and it seems that the system just can't read the microSD card anymore. The card itself is fully functional. I can access it through the data management option and my pc reads it just fine. I've also tried a few other microSD cards. They all work, but the 3ds just doesn't see any of them.

Is it possible that whatever mystery app she uninstalled affected this? Any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks!

one can't just ''uninstall luma''
you can always put the files back and nothing change lmao

(btw you wont get issues like this if you had shadownand)
(i had luma removed couple of times and put it back, nothing changes)

No there are no apps that would cause this issue from uninstalling them. The only thing I can think that would affect your SD card being read is possibly a system title that shouldn't have been removed. Perhaps your kid lied and was using FBI to uninstall titles which would all be "mystery" and may or may not include readable data. IIRC only titles installed to the HomeMenu even show up in "options" of the settings menu.

Just try updating your 3DS again. If you're missing any necessary system titles it will redownload them.

Alright. I'll try updating again.

*edit*

Quick question. Is it safe to do a full system wipe? Will it affect the a9lh installation? If updating doesn't work, I may go for the full nuke option if it's safe to do.

Sorry if this is a noobish question. I've searched around and haven't seen it asked anywhere.

Updating will install all missing titles. Formatting won't remove a9lh so that's safe.

Alright! I was still on 11.1 so I updated Luma to the latest stable release and then updated the system to 11.2.

Everything works now! Thank you to everyone in this thread!

Going to have another talk with my daughter about not using FBI for anything. Just in case. Haha!
