Yeah, so I downloaded Metroid Prime 3: Corruption for my PAL Wii when it was released, and I of course
got the duplicate News and Weather-channels.
It's very annoying, and people say that Nintendo might detect your hardware as modded easier that way.
So now I'm thinking of formatting my Wii system memory.
Of course, I have already copied my most important save files to an SD card (why can't you copy the Everybody Votes-save?!),
so that's not a problem.

I have a couple of questions though.
1: If I format it, can I still download my previously downloaded Virtual Console-games for free?
2: Does the WiiKey get corrupted or something if you format the Wii? (stupid question, I know)

If these questions should be answered in another thread, just tell me and I'll delete this one.

It doesn't?!

dude nintendo will never actually detect it dont worry... And why would they I mean you can do whatever u want to with the Wii after you bought it and its yours in other words (u can eat it, pee in it and etc..) and they shouldn't care so why would they care about this??? And anyway how will they ever detect tht?

And, a Wiikey in your Wii isn't illegal (at least, not in my country).

Only if you download and play games from which you don't have the original disc, then it's illegal.

What's wrong with just deleting the duplicate channels?

You can't delete the duplicate channels are these are "system channels". The Wii come with these standard. All you can really do is hold A + B and move them off the 1st page to the 2nd or 3rd so you can't see them

Hope this helps..
