Doesn't that mean in the future we would have to upgrade to v2 for newer a9lh.bin files?
if the arm9loaderhax.bin starts to become bigger, yes.

if the arm9loaderhax.bin starts to become bigger, yes.

Also, Plailect's guide seems to have a rather straightforward instructions for upgrading a9lh. So, if this is harmless, why not upgrade it?
Cool. Since it's so painless, I guess I'll update it when I can actually be bothered about it. Too many games to play now haha
A bit offtopic: in this new SafeA9LHInstaller it says press Start to uninstall. What is that? Uninstalls A9LH without a NAND backup?

It uninstall's A9LH~! Though, it should only work on v2, and only if your system version isn't on 11.0
"Added uninstall feature. This allows you to quickly uninstall A9LH, on both Old and New 3DSes, but only if your sysNAND isn't 11.0 or greater to prevent you finding yourself with an unhackable console. Please note that if you uninstall A9LH, you'll need a system version of 9.2 or lower to reinstall it"

will the gateway payload still work alongside Luma with the v2 of a9lh. ?

(and btw. i am on the latest fw. using updated sysNAND to boot Luma, and the payload of gw works great alongside it) so i hope this update is something i can use without messing anything up in my current setup?

With Luma3DS' chainloader, probably not. Keep hearing people having issues with v2 A9LH, with GW's payload.

More info on the GW thread about it: http://gbatemp.net/threads/the-status-of-gateway-and-a9lh.427889/page-70#post-6441135
